TYGER TYGER GALLERY- GRAND OPENING

  • Tyger Tyger Gallery 191 LYMAN STREET SUITE 144 ASHEVILLE, NC 28801 United States (map)

TYGER TYGER gallery’s inaugural opening exhibition, What Strange Water, What Strange Air features paintings and drawings by three queer artists.

A portal is generally understood as a threshold or doorway leading from one location to another. Shortened, a port can be a safe harbor, an entry point into the body, or a location of connection for transmission from digital to printed form. In this exhibition, portals are transcribed into, around, and in-between metaphorical, metaphysical and corporeal identities and environments. Story-like, dense topographies that contrast atmospheric illusions of space with graphic areas of flatness fill Christian Rieben’s lush, vivid paintings, while Caleb Yono’s figurative pastels and mixed media drawings envision an imaginary world where high femme protagonists navigate and maintain a multidimensional universe. Mira Gerard’s luminous paintings locate emotional states within turbulent landscapes occasionally populated by figures, animals, and hints at the supernatural. The grand opening will an event you don’t want to miss! See you there

What Strange Water, What Strange Air runs through September 25th.
